@Jonathan Mccarthy: For under $500 I would recommend the M-Audio Bxa8 (or whatever they call the 8" version these days). I sold mine to my cousin who mixes commercial films and music videos with them. Surprisingly good bass and boom without a woofer and decent depth of sound field.

@The Artgineer: Where I live, Optimum (aka Cablevision) and FiOS are in an all out war. So Optimum runs a ton of smear ads on all of their channels, especially the local news station. And Verizon runs rebuttal and anti-Optimum ads in all the same areas. So they are competitive customers. It is all just business.

@Dacker: completely commonplace. How many times have you been watching cable and seen an ad for switching to DirecTV, FiOS, or vice versa?
