Thats because the current “small” trucks are still very large. They’re too close to the full size trucks so they don’t get that much better mileage.

I agree, its kinda like the automotive equivalent of dad-bod. It looks like it once was sporty and athletic, but after the first few kids it had to sell the bike and get a boring desk job. Call me crazy, but I’ve never been a huge fan of the JK. I think the Wrangler peaked with the TJ. The JK’s are just too damn big. I was gonna say the same thing, driving my old CJ-7 provided an aural experience not unlike a dubstep concert.
I’ve been to several FD events and I think it’s awesome, but yeah it’s really just the motorsports equivalent of figure skating or gymnastics.
