It’s not perfect, but London has the best urban transportation system I’ve experienced.

While this may be true, if you apply the same logic to the Japanese and Korean manufacturers you could say that their problem is that their full-sized pickup trucks are not very good, which is an even bigger problem in the U.S. where that is one of the segments that has grown the most over the past few years and

2007 Porsche Cayman (base). Granted, it does have a Bose sound system that is notably better than the Ranger’s system, but I have to use one of those radio lightning plug radio adapters since there is no aux or USB. I do miss having a USB plug as well I guess.

“Kodak sure is happy that Canon and Sony are abandoning film cameras”

Missed opportunity to call it the Rorschach package.

Ah I initially misunderstood your comment as saying that you should put solar panels *on* the trailer, so I wrote this whole math story but now I think I understand that you’re saying a big battery trailer = store up energy using stationary solar panels so you don’t have to tap the grid, which could be worth it in the

Things my previous daily driver (Brand new loaded Ranger) had that my current daily driver doesn’t have that I do not miss: giant touch screen, navigation, apple car play, android auto, waze integration, FordPass remote start/stop/lock/unlock/scheduled start/gps tracking/vehicle health alerts, multiple USB ports, 110v

5th gear reminds me of this:

This was kind of my first thought too, but then you’re really just building a second electric car. The battery in an EV is usually about half the cost of the car itself, very roughly speaking. If you had a big trailer that had a battery skateboard that the towing vehicle could draw from, that might be slightly more

That would be one way to interpret it, but if that’s true it could have been worded much better.

“Uber admitted to 3,045 reported sexual assaults by its drivers in 2018 and 2,936 in 2017, the New York Times reports. The ride-hailing service also recorded 5,500 other incidents of groping or unwanted sexual touching”

Check it out in person and you might be surprised. It’s not as “bloated” as you may think just from pictures.

Neutral: electrification has way less to do with job losses than the systematic dismantling of organized labor and the rise of automation.

Didn’t you know that in our plutocracy it’s always a good time to fire some folks?

Hard to see how continuing to invest in a segment that makes up 30% of the overall market and is quickly declining is worth it, especially if that’s not your strong suit to begin with. Literally across the board every brand in the united states is experiencing decreasing sedan/coupe sales combined with increasing

Exactly. YOY sales of traditional sedans continue to decline by double digit percentages every quarter, and that’s across the entire industry. Investing in those segments now is just wasting money. The main issue is a broader plateau/slowdown in automotive demand combined with rising costs of production.

Beautiful. Love it. Except for the lack of manual. It’s sad. Still pretty though.

The University of Michigan Solar Car team once beat MIT by over 100 hours in the 2012 American Solar Challenge because MIT ran slick tires in a rain storm and crashed on the second day of the race.

That Aston Martin boat is pretty cool:

Regular car windows are surprisingly hard to smash through with blunt force. They’re laminated with layers of glass and synthetic interlayers that make them very hard to break through. They typically flex and then splinter to absorb impacts. There is a hilarious video of a reporter trying to break a window with a
