I wouldn’t want to move around central Paris with a car, anyway. Same goes with any other major city. This is just basic urban planning—maximise the traffic efficiency and make people, not cars, the focus. In less-dense areas there is no reason to re-route cars if the congestion is not chronic.

I take it that you haven’t tried navigating around Paris after midnight, such as spending an hour at a taxi queue arguing with line jumpers.

I am not a lawyer and haven’t read the court case but, how can a court award a guys entire business and personal assets like that? I can certainly see monetary damages of a significant amount which may force him to liquidize his assets but this seems odd to me.
