To everyone saying, “But the emergency release handle is clearly in line of sight if you’re looking at the door “latch” button!” You should really think about the situation a bit more. We’re talking about a 72 year old guy who’s probably less familiar with computers than any of us are with theoretical nuclear physics.

I’m a big Corvette fan, but I called this from the beginning. The first time I opened a C6 at the Detriot auto show I thought “wow fancy...this is going to cause more problems than it solves (which is probably zero).”

I like Corvettes, but those stupid door buttons are a dealbreaker. It's just such a dumb and pointless feature it pisses me off.

I used to trap friends in unpowered Corvettes at auto shows, and giggle as they tried to search for a way out - with me eventually showing them the floor handle. But that was always in an air conditioned convention centre. This is just a tragic, awful story.

This picture breaks my heart, as I can only imagine what it was like for the two of them. They clearly loved each other and at least they were together.

I had this happen to me at a Carmax. I had to call the sales guy to get let out. Needless to say it tarnished that Vette for me which I otherwise really liked. Wouldn’t buy any car without mechanical door handles now. It’s a stupid idea.

1) Every C6 Owner needs to have this information, by mail E-mail, or dealer calling them to tell them directly. They need to know about that release lever!

Sad story. File under Rube Goldberg designed car features.

I’m sorry but this is a terrible UX / GUI / Symbol for that lever........ Sad indeed.

Welcome to the world of modern electronics. GM is far from alone in this. BMW made thousands of cars with deadbolt door locks. With that technology, it was possible to turn your car into a mini jail, and lock people inside. A family in California found out the hard way, when they left their little girl in the car, and

That is as close to perfect as can be, classic British style backed up by Japanese power and reliability.

Resto-modding is my favorite thing. Modern drive-train, modern brakes, modern suspension and steering in a classic car - preferably so stealthily done, that it looks like the original.

Wow, to solve that issue they really need to strip search more 90 year old women and quadriplegic children.

That’s what happens when you take essentially mall cops (pre 9/11 reqs for airport security weren’t robust) and unilaterally deputize them as federal police. Thanks PATRIOT Act!

No, wait....

The transparent engine cover shows... The engine cover.

65?!?!? I’m gonna assume you have no idea what you’re talking about. And you’re insulting its cornering ability? Chevy Hater/12 year old boy car intelligence

The fact it looks like an engine cover and is fairly ugly means your correct details miss the point. I look at it and see engine cover. You put glass over something so you can see it, not over a plain aluminum plate.

WHY IS THE DESCRIPTION IN ALL CAPS? I DON’T LIKE BEING YELLED AT WHEN CONSIDERING MY NEXT CAR PURCHASE! STOP YELLING AT ME!

I’d buy the Boxster S.
