The tipping culture went already so bizarre that the question became rather shall you tip before or after the service. In some grocery shops you have nowadays to tip the guy before to ensure you do not get rotten vegetables. Tipping is a sickness which makes a society sick.
No. Dear restaurant owner, please just pay your staff like all other businesses do. Don't employ people if you dont want to pay them.
There is NO rule and definitely NOT a golden rule of 20%. People is the restaurant business would like to penetrate this concept and to create a bad conscious if people dont tip. Restaurant owners would of course prefer to have cheap labor and take all the profit for themselves. Surely, prices without tip look better…

Maybe we should tip real estate brokers also with 20% as “Golden Rule”... Somebody who can afford a USD 500.000 can also pay USD 100.000 tip for a great purchase experience... And that broker might have also studied... And it is sooo much more work to sell a house... The broker has to even put an ad on the Internet...…
Why can’t the restaurant which charges 250 USD simply pay wages? The restaurant is expected to be able to afford it ...
