Hi Woody. Didn’t know you had a Kinja account.
Hi Woody. Didn’t know you had a Kinja account.
Because maybe it wasn’t obvious to him.
“Why does that need to be the conversation?”
“The single most distressing thing to me about Grace’s story is that the only person with any agency in the story seems to be Aziz Ansari. Grace is merely acted upon.”
Fuck politeness, as my favorite podcast hosts say! SSDGM
This.
This was a bad date. She had a horrible date with a clueless guy who thought he was being sexy and hot. She was made to feel uncomfortable, and it wasn’t right.
Fuck that shit. Someone who will assault a 12-year-old will do it regardless of the movie tone. Blaming Cameron is idiotic
Jesus christ, thats a fucking leap.
What, everyone that ever knew this guy is now a rapist?
Pretty dangerous mentality.
The fact that you’re conflating a harmless striptease scene with the molestation of a 12 year old girl is staggeringly dumb.
You mean, roleplaying? A thing adults do all the time.
You’re trying way too hard to connect something heavy-handed but otherwise completely innocuous to something actually horrifying because dipshits like you can’t handle a world where everything you think is a big deal isn’t a big deal. It’s pathetic.
Oh no, he kept a comedic cheesecake scene that showed a woman being sexy in a campy action comedy movie?!!? Surely he is a dirt person.
OK, but his other movies have quite a few strong female characters(if you were talking about something sexist he did in real life that would be one thing as far as proving what his real attitudes are, but you’re bringing up one of his movies so I think it’s fair to point to his other movies as a counterpoint to that).
Yes, the director of Terminator and Aliens, sees women simply as sex objects. *eye roll*
So Fucking What?
That scene and the way Schwarzenegger’s character interrogated and humiliated his wife is misogynist (although I believe it was taken wholesale from the French film True Lies was a remake of), but that is clearly not the same as advocating child sexual assault. It’s frankly offensive to conflate the two things.
Even though he’s been known for verbal abuse and putting people’s safety at risk, I haven’t heard about any behavior that I would call misogynist. People can be assholes but not be sexist, racist, etc.
Your comment makes no sense. What are you saying exactly? The director and the stunt coordinator were in cahoots to sexually assault people? The writer would have put the scene in there and James Cameron directed it. A grown woman dancing seductively for a movie scene shouldn’t be in the same category as a little girl…
So we’re supposed to feel bad for financial backers/producers? Sure, he’s a jerk, but it’s a business and you get what you can. They could have said no, and shelved the pic. It’s not a charity, and he’s not taking money away from anyone but a producer. Michelle absolutely should have gotten more, but that’s not on him.
Like, it’s a prime example of someone being a dick but I do kinda get it, since that’s time working on this project that he could be spending on something else and getting paid.
