My guess is you do not fly often or nor risk cost. There are two or three factors that increase risk of bump from a flight and check in order is number one. Being further back in line dramatically increases lost or delayed check in luggage as well as risk of you being forced to check in luggage

Using merge land is identical and the same as lane splitting and surfing on a motorcycle. Both save net time for the person lane splitting or using the merge and for others —- and both are documented to increase accidents

I am not for giving elderly or handicapped (same thing ) or pregnant or people with kids pass for cutting,)but always give them a pass if they ask and no one is behind me

The people behind you have a right be angry. If you saved the person who cut in line 5 minutes and 10 people are behind you you just unfairly wasted 5 minutes of each of their time or 50 minutes.
