There are half a dozen references to 2001: A Space Odyssey in the Pixar film, Wall-E.

I have had similar experiences with Futurama and some other shows in that the more Star Trek series I have watched the more things I realize was a reference.

I remember watching Star Trek: The Motion Picture for the first time several years ago. A few days later I watched an episode of Futurama with a commercial for Malfunctioning Eddies Rocket Car Emporium where he mentions the brand new 'Plymouth V'Ger'.
