“He’s never faced me!”

Taika Wahiti and later the Russos did a fantastic job at tapping into one of Hemsworth’s greatest talents as an actor: his ability to be a sad clown of sorts.

Now playing

I liked this when it came out...but I didn’t truly appreciate it until I saw the Lindsay Ellis video on it.

Well, this is certainly not what I expected Lil Dicky’s next video to be but...well, good for him.

This movie is solidly decent. Plotting and characterization are pretty standard “House Marvel Style”, and I’m glad they went with the special effects for their focus, it’s the one truly standout element in the film (except for probably the climax, arguably the most inventive resolution for a film so far in this

Snoke still serves an important role in Kylo Ren’s development. He doesn’t serve a role as the “ultimate big bad”

Feel like there’s a cause and effect there...

Well, yeah...but it’s repeatedly from incidents they caused. Like...saving thousands from Ultron in Sokovia is all well and good except Tony Stark BUILT ULTRON.

That...uh...that didn’t happen in any other movie?

Is there? I mean, Rey is still pretty young, she’s like 18. As someone who has experience with losing an abusive parent, it can take a long time for people (especially children) to come to grips with it, particularly when they have no real support structure (which is the case with Rey...not like she’s going to therapy)

I think that raises some valid points, but also...it’s been 30 years. I don’t find it that hard to just accept that just some shit went down. And even if we WANT an explanation, it still isn’t necessary to the story they’re telling right now

I think the prequels and the EU kind of warped the way people think about Star Wars, and I get it. Like...we have this expectation after the prequels that we’ll get every character’s backstory, that we’ll know everything that happened...but it’s a story, it isn’t a history book, y’know?

Ant-Man is a movie that is far better than it has any right to be, considering the prolonged production cycle, the change in directors, etc.

Rick Jones might be the most significant character that Marvel in general has just completely abandoned in all media.

She clearly says that in a tongue in cheek manner, in a way to get BB-8 to stop asking questions. It hardly compares to her emotional admission that her parents were nobodies.

Yeah, it’s based on knowledge about children and trauma. Because it turns out that, even when parents are abusive assholes, children still really love their parents and have abandonment issues if they leave them.

I mean, is it truly relevant to the story, though? We didn’t get Palpatine’s origins in RotJ because it didn’t matter to the story. The plot wasn’t effected by how he came to power or learned to use the force or why he became evil or anything. The crux of the trilogy was the dynamic between Luke and Vader, and

Curry paste isn’t the curry sauce, though. It’s just ground up spices.

I’d say so. I’ve never had any problems with greasiness and I’ve never used coconut cream.

But at the end of the day, he wasn’t a key baddie. That’s kind of the point? He was a wannabe Palpatine who wasn’t as clever or conniving as he thought he was. He ended up being a red herring.
