How does going to a vegan dinner party make you eat outside your personal dietary choices? Do you literally only eat meat and dairy products? Then sure, I guess that’s the case.

You seem to think I’m claiming no one should ever eat meat. I’m not. I eat meat.
Dude, I’m not a vegan. I’m just not a child and I can have a meal without meat occasionally. This isn’t that complicated.
Unless you only like meat, there are plenty of opportunities for things you like at a vegan dinner.
I literally said this in my first comment: “On the one hand, I do legitimately respect his self reflection and honesty. This was a hard thing to confess, I’d imagine, and he did it entirely voluntarily.”
But...it isn’t, though. They are entirely different things. Not accommodating a vegan means that the vegan has nothing to eat. Not accommodating an omnivore means...they can still eat everything there, there just isn’t meat involved.
I never said I don’t believe in redemption, or that change is possible. I don’t think Liam Neeson is still that person, though he does still frighten me a bit, as there is always the possibility something could drive him to have that reaction again.
Let me explain something to you: if the only thing you took from your assault was “he was black and young”, and every time you saw a black teenager you intrinsically associated them with this guy...then yeah, you’re a racist.
And now it has become incredibly clear that you’re defending this behavior because you’ve wanted to do the same damn thing. You’re upset because you’re seeing other people react to this and you’re feeling judged. Which is good. Because you should.
If you tell people your thoughts, people are allowed to think those thoughts are shitty. What about that do you not understand? Can you not parse that?
Yeah, I am. I’m condemning a person for going out with the intent of hurting people. His failure to find a good target is not a defense.
Yeah...I probably eat vegan meals 4 or 5 times a week just completely unintentionally.
Because he didn’t get the opportunity. He makes it damn clear that he would have. Going out with the intent of murdering/beating someone because of their race is not cool, even if you don’t end up actually doing it.
Vegans choose not to eat animal products.
There are tons of vegan meals that don’t involve a fucking beetloaf. I’m not vegan, but I eat meals that would qualify as vegan all the time.
Which is why I’m conflicted, honestly.
I mean, on the one hand, this isn’t a thing to get upset about.
If you wouldn’t go to a dinner party just because they aren’t serving meat, you’re probably kind of an asshole, honestly.
I mean, it’s a dinner party. They aren’t required to serve you meat. I’ve been to quite a few dinner parties where there wasn’t a meat dish, and I never really thought anything of it. It isn’t hard to have a meal without meat or cheese occasionally.
Context is important, but to what extent?
