I had some issues with TLJ as a film, but its developments for the mythology, bringing the force back to what it was in the original Star Wars film, was one of the best things he could have possibly done.

Yup! TFA established that:

Eh, I don’t like the idea of him on the casino planet, just because I always saw him becoming a bit more of an idealist by the end.

What did I say that even implied that “logic”?

I find the idea that she’s a nobody that has no grand destiny far more compelling than if she’s just some other chosen one with a notable lineage. She’s a character defined by her own choices, not her birth...kind of a first for a Star Wars protagonist.

This is cool and all but...can we just make Lando a happy, healthy adult in this one?

Ah yes, because “oh she’s the secret child of X” always makes for great storytelling.

This should not be a hot take.

Oh god yes about TPM. I remember those fights getting so much praise and it always just struck me as if they were just trying to hit each other’s weapons, not the actual person.

HOT TAKE: Almost all the complaints about Luke’s state in this movie should be directed at J.J. Abrams.

The fact that Superman comics/films aren’t nearly constantly pointing out Superman’s status as an illegal immigrant right now is such a waste.

Daniel Craig was great as that one stormtrooper!

So...like 2.5 hours and 10 bucks?

Plenty of trans actors are completely passable.

I mean it’s being compared to other fast food...so presumably, people are comparing it to, y’know, other fast food.

Did you read the article? The part where they say “it would be one thing if we were being considered for cis roles, but we aren’t”?

Trans actors aren’t getting considered for cis roles and they tend to get passed over for trans roles.

I think it boils down to this: trans actors should be considered for cis roles. But since that isn’t happening, can we at least consider them for trans roles?

Well, you’re missing out on some key details: one, it worked. The gas station got a ton of business (and I’m sure the publicity from the show didn’t hurt). The majority of the places he “helps” actually do get more business, the solution is just too impractical or too weird for them to want to continue. And two, they

Yeah, the times the regular people end up the butt of the jokes tend to be stuff like the urine thing. Nathan didn’t really prompt or fish for that, the guy just...said it. On his own. On camera.  He would have done that regardless of if the show was a comedy or not.
