The film was also set in what was clearly a “50s America” vibe. Felt more “red scare was bad” than “Hillary is evil”

I’m kinda disappointed in this. I think Vaughn is a really good genre director (I mean, Stardust, Layer Cake, Kick-Ass, First Class, Kingsmen...) and I don’t want to see him just making Mark Millar adaptations forever.

I mean, sorta kinda.  Korg does come from a whole species, and Thor’s first appearance involved fighting off aliens from Korg’s race.  So it was never necessarily Korg, just as Korg wasn’t one of the invaders in the first Thor story.

I think everyone just has a different line on this. If it was just Jeffrey Tambor being a dick, sure, I might be more inclined.  But with such a big percentage of the cast, it’s harder to overlook.

Terrible timing on Netflix’s part, though.  8 seasons of Parts Unknown leave a week from now, which is a shame because I’m really in the mood to watch a lot them.

My favorite thing about Bourdain, and it is a long list, is his absolute hatred of Paula Deen. I never liked her before all the racism came out, and the fact that he was always ready and willing to throw several insults her way has provided me a source of constant entertainment over the years.

Sure.  But it isn’t like he had a tailor on the island.  He still chose his look for the projection, and I think there is a reason for the look he decided on.

As someone who lost a parent to suicide when I was still a kid: you’re wrong.  Did it hurt?  Of course.  But even as a kid I was able to understand and be compassionate.  You’re a grown adult, you should be able to.

Did we stop eating Tide Pods?

I think there is a point where I wouldn’t tip. I’ve just never had service that bad

I’m not saying they should have let him on the base.

He had an ID. It was a valid ID.

Big difference between “adequate ID needed to enter” and “let’s call ICE on this person”

I mean, it certainly was part of the visual flair...but it works on a symbolic level regardless.

One thing I really liked that TLJ did was make the robes kind of emblematic of the Jedi’s failures via Luke.

Sure. I’m not opposed to tipping, I’m opposed to the necessity of tipping. Sure, some people, depending on the restaurant, can pull in hundreds a night. Others can barely hit minimum wage. Some don’t at all.

People that work in food service don’t tend to have a lot of options.

I still tip in those situations, but I don’t feel obligated to tip.  And that’s an important distinction.  Because for serving jobs, tipping IS how the employee gets paid.

I was thinking about Avatar the whole way through on that.  Ren seeming like he might turn, then not was VERY Zuko.  But I agree with TheGuyInThe3rdRow, too...from that moment on, he’s clearly having a mental breakdown like series-finale Azula.

He killed Snoke because he obviously fucking hated Snoke.  Dude was a dick to him all the time.
