Nah. Just most of the “plot holes” I’ve heard about were pretty self explanatory. One or two big ones, for sure though.  It’s definitely not a flawless movie.

Really?  I think Johnson took a fairly one note character with hints of an interesting arc and fleshed him out into a far more interesting figure than the Darth Vader wannabe of the first film.

I’m gonna go the opposite.  TLJ is Star Wars for people who don’t need every little detail explained and can figure some stuff out on their own.

The line was maybe a little cheesy but cheesy lectures about how bad hate is kinda come with the territory in Star Wars.

The narrative I’ve always gotten here always seemed like it was more directed at the super upset people, not the average “I wasn’t a fan” people.

Well yeah. Because how often does anyone report on the reasonable, measured side?  The sexist, racist ones did plenty of shit to get headlines...but I don’t think you’d find many people who would claim the film isn’t deserving of criticism.

I don’t think anyone is saying that “if you dislike TLJ, you’re a sexist”. More that “if you’re this passionately angry over the movie, there’s probably more going on there”.  And for a lot of these people, that thing is sexism.

Well, sure.  But I don’t get their fake, coded language reason for hating the character.

I just don’t understand why people hate the character so much.

I don’t care about “reinforcing the employer’s beliefs” because a change is never going to be made on the employer/employee level. Employers aren’t going to care if you don’t tip. They don’t care if you do. They’re getting your money regardless.

If not taking part in the system hurt the employers, I’d be all for it! But that isn’t the case, it only hurts the staff...who have pretty much no power at all to effect change.  Not tipping doesn’t encourage employers to start paying fair wages, they aren’t losing any money.  All it does is hurt waitstaff, putting

Sure, I’m underpaid too. But not as badly as these people, you know that. 2 dollars an hour is a slave wage if they aren’t being tipped.

Their boss is also an asshole. I’m not denying that. Literally said in my first comment that they’re worse. But what you’re doing is bad, too.

Oh, that’s absolutely the situation I’d more advocate for.

Yeah, it’s not your problem. But the complete lack of empathy makes you an asshole.

You’re an asshole because the only person suffering here are the waitstaff, who don’t tend to have the power to get changes made. You’re getting a cheaper meal because they’re underpaying their workers. The management is getting more money. The only losers are the waiters.

Because wages suck for servers.

Nah, tipping costs more. The difference between the tipping minimum and the standard minimum is a flat $5.12. As long as the restaurant averages at least $25.60 per hour per server (which any restaurant that isn’t doing terribly will do), it’s going to be less than a 20% difference.

And even then, it’s still cheaper overall than tipping by a pretty sizable margin.I did the math on another article, but I’ll repeat here pretty quickly:

Ever watch Always Sunny?  Tons of racist characters.  But the butt of the joke is always them.
