What are the economies of scale on a Corolla that shares components with other vehicles in Toyota’s lineup?

If people bought Miatas as frequently as they did Corollas, they would cost $20k. Back in reality, a low-volume car with any kind of research and development cost (see: Miata suspension) is going to cost more than econoboxes built to a price. Hell, Mazda doesn’t even price their relatively mass-market Mazda3 to the…
Are... Are you drunk?
You might be overreacting to a composite picture made for a manufacturer’s website having issues <1% of the population will care about.
Emissions, running costs, maintenance, NVH, never having to stop at the gas station, one-pedal driving, etc.
This is a 100% certainty, product development times are measured in years in the car industry and decisions as monumental as what engine gets installed where can’t be made on a whim. Thousands of hours of testing and certification need to be done for each powertrain configuration.
The 178hp is more than adequate. I’ve had a lot more and a lot less, right now my Alltrack makes 185hp and it’s enjoyable.
Except that it is actually designed as an aircraft engine, whereas the Porsche engine is most definitely not. It would require a gear reducer to keep the prop speeds down to a manageable level, and I predict the fuel usage would be comically bad.
Something will happen and the US government will have access to these cameras under the guise of national security. Some people will not like that and start to vandalize the cameras on the cars. The US military will start having two armed recent high school graduates sit in while the car drives around. The year is now…
It’s 2:30 on a Tuesday. She leaves her Pure Barre studio in Lululemon pants and Patagonia vest. The end of the season is nearing, and the thought of not having one last Peppermint Hot Chocolate is too much to bear. She knows the drive through at Starbucks will be slammed, but has the confidence that comes with…
And with a 5000lb trailer, 7 healthy people, and cargo on board, in cold weather, range is what? 40% of the ideal rating? Less?
This is the $2.6 million “beater” for those that don’t want to drive there investment grade F1. What an awesome yet fucked up world we live in.
First, Tesla will sell plenty of “cyber trucks” (still not sure they actually call it that) to Tesla fans and folks who want to get into the Tesla image-sphere, but they’re unlikely to sell many trucks to people who either need to do truck stuff (haul, tow, etc.) or who bought a truck because they have enormous…
But it’s not a launch. That’s the issue I have. It was an unveiling of a far-from-production concept coupled with some aspirational specs for a car that is at best 2 years from production. It’s just BS hype to keep Tesla in the news. The kind of stuff a company that’s been making cars for over a decade shouldn’t need…
It’s not as villainous looking as the modified 110s that the bad guys in Spectre used, but considering that they are basically normal Defenders but black, damn they look quite evil. Cue the Internet telling me why I’m wrong and, despite most people on here being American and actually never living with the old one, why…
Nah. It’s a factory stereo, so it probably needs its PIN number. It happens every time you have a flat battery. It’s not connected to the immobilizer. If you don’t have the PIN, you just junk it and buy something modern.
how about no. Mclaren GT4 if your going to put your wallet into a wall at speed.
I think the problem here is that you can’t actually market this thing to people who don’t know about cars. There’s no wool-pulling. It’s not like the Urus (I finally have an excuse to drive a Lambo!) or some heritage-laden tweedmobile (Careful with the Jag, darling).
Lots of car names became famous to normies for…
Headers (equal vs unequal length) make a huge difference in sound.
Hot take: The EJ/FA series motors all sound like shit. Good riddance to one of them.
