I think he's generally correct but that it depends. For the Battle of Coruscant, you'd really expect there to be hundreds of ships. On the other hand, you could play it more like the Battle of Endor, where there were hundreds of ships but we only saw a couple up close.

I'm curious how much Lucas does know about the world of Star Wars outside of the films. I know he's pretty involved with The Clone Wars and has had a supervisory role for Shadows of the Empire and The Force Unleashed, but there's also been indications he doesn't pay too much attention to the EU generally.

To be honest, at this point (watching Season 10) Vala is the most interesting character on the show. And yes, Claudia Black is awesome generally (I actually know her best from her voice acting).

Well, sure, they occasionally lift some ideas from the licensed fics, but my point is that at least AFAIK the Star Wars EU is considered more or less canon (with some limitations and conditions), whereas the Star Trek EU has been more or less licensed fan fiction which doesn't even attempt self-consistency.

Fair enough.

Interesting. I was not aware of this condition.

That's awesome. I'm glad the kid was able to help his mother and grow closer to her because of the experience. I hope she's doing well.

Yeah, I may well wait for the price to go down, especially since most of my budget is going towards holiday presents at the moment.

It's entirely possible that he's a good cruft writer and a poor screenwriter. I wouldn't expect Dan Wallace (one of the main writers for the Star Wars Essential guides), for example, to produce any especially compelling Star Wars stories, but he does a fairly good job at filling in the blanks other writers have left.

Hmm... I'm sorely tempted to get this, despite not usually partaking in licensed Star Trek materials.

I'm with you. Not so much because I tried Farscape and didn't like it, but because I'm really not into the actor's character on SG-1 and want to know why everyone loves him so much.

Very true, speaking as someone who enjoys both.

Print media that caters to a niche audience still has a market, especially if it offers things online media doesn't. It's more that the golden age of print media is gone, rather than print media itself is completely obsolete.

I dunno, I thought the effects on BSG were pretty extraordinary. But yeah, I know, the budget limits things.

That is one unbelievably cute T. rex.

That's another good point. Not every country divides their military in such clear-cut fashions as the U.S.

In truth, I kind of leaned towards this middle position to begin with, even before the LucasArts developer spoke out, simply based on my inferences about the video game industry in general and LucasArts specifically.

It's not really that different. Sure, one is a (nearly entirely) fictional character and one is a real animal that scientists are trying to research, but the way individual persons will react to a change in imagery is the same regardless.

What he's saying is that the diversity of dinosaurs and the types of roles they played in their habitat is closer to that of modern mammals than modern birds and reptiles.

Relevance? I'm not insulting servicemen. I honor their service and they can call themselves whatever they want. But marines are a type of soldier/warrior/fighting-man.
