Nah. I have a 96 Golf and a 97 Jetta (I own two for a reason). They break pretty regularly, but are easy and cheap to fix, the last generation of VW I would say that about. Mk3 and Mk2 are nearly the same mechanically, as well.

I had the 1st generation Jetta 16V.  Then I had two generations of the VR6 motors in a Passat Sedan and the 2008 R32.  I do love the VR6 motor.  It’s almost bullet proof!

I’ve had the same thought since the new raptor came out in 2016. The market is there, the raptors sell like hot cakes. Take a king ranch or platinum trim F150, drop it a few inches, big wheels, and drop in the GT500 motor/tranny = New F150 Lighting. Done.

For less than the cost of the conversion alone, I’d rather buy a Viper truck.
