I agree with all of that. I was just disagreeing with you when you said that we shouldn’t be using tragedy as fuel for change in preventing further tragedy.

This is a fundamental problem Lifehacker faces. Whenever we like something, we’re told it’s just an ad and we’re shills. There’s really no good way for us to say “This is an awesome thing” without someone cynically assuming we were paid for it. Which, by the way, we were not.

People work hard on youtube? Pretty sure that taping your child after the dentist isn’t work. Neither is falling off your skateboard and crushing your nuts on a pole.

You do this enough times, and eventually most voters will go, “hey, wait a minute, I’m wasting my votes here. I’ll go back to voting for the people who are at least moderately in line with my views, because at least they have a shot at winning.”

The thing is though, it being a conspiracy and it being genuine aren’t mutually exclusive.
