What can I say, they lost Cat Grant, and can't replace her.

Their foundation of knowledge of one another is that Winn really wanted them to have an emotional connection, while Lyra really wanted him TO GO TO PRISON FOR GRAND THEFT.

SO MUCH THIS.

I'm not saying i don't like her chances.

All true, but it's not like she's coming to Game Night, is it?

Plus, of course he wants to become a superhero! He's been set on improving himself since he met Superman (or, at least, that's my read of him), and the fact that he's dependent on Winn - the former version of himself - in order to do that should generate some character friction there.

Yeah, but they needed to set up that he *hates* being trapped in that office a long time ago.

It's basically unfixable at this point, but imagine if Lois Lane had somehow gotten Cat Grant's job, and been stuck in that office, having her life run by Miss Tessmacher.

Well, it's simple: James has become one of the most powerful black men in the world almost entirely by accident, and subsequently doesn't know or doesn't care how powerful is, so feels the only way he can make a difference in the world is by beating up very small time criminals.

He wasn't useful before she left, so probably not.

She's had a secret agenda for four episodes, she's from a war zone, and she has night terrors.

Can we trust Lena? Yes, but not to the point where she can know the truth about Kara or meet any of her other friends. Repeat as needed.

At this point, I would bet cash money that Lyra turns full-on abuser.

The writers will eventually work out that the audience hasn't forgotten, either, which means it might get course-corrected at the start of Season 3. Maybe.

Winn needs to sit down with him and explain what the division of labour ought to be on this enterprise, because this isn't the first time he's done this.

Season one character pairings:

James has never been the brains of the Guardian operation.

Maybe if they ever actually wrote for the ensemble, instead of the same four character pairings over and over again…

J'onn goes out to investigate stuff, and takes Mon-El and Maggie with him. Stick Kara back at CatCo for an ep (she'll be back there soon anyway, right?) and stick Alex in the lab with Winn (she is *technically* scientist…).

They removed all the flaws of Jimmy Olsen, but didn't replace them with new ones (like Lois Lane's impetuousness, perhaps?); so they kind of just developed themselves.
