I like Mon-El. The relationship with Kara has, at best, been weirdly paced and poorly contextualized; but he's a solid foil for her, the fish-out-of-water stuff works - I'm still miffed they didn't do a Christmas episode, because Mon-El's first Christmas would be hilarious - and Chris Wood is great in the role. I am,

Headcanon: Winn still hasn't worked out why Kara made him turn Star Wars off right after Alderaan was destroyed.

You know what? Diggle/M'Gann team-up would be GOLD. Where no-one tells him she's a White Martian.

I've always been on Winn's side. His creepiness - such as it was - was so clearly based in crippling loneliness that it's hard not to sympathise. He doesn't have any family. He doesn't - in his mind, at least - have any friends, besides Kara (all his other friends are, first and foremost, *Kara's* friends). Kara was

"Don't mind me. I'll just sit quietly."

"Dammit, are there any straight human women left on this planet?"

Yes, but before Supergirl Lives, the romance was, in my opinion, actually working; after that, that's when the bickering started to feel forced, and the arguments themselves get weird.

But not have him exhibit a single flaw while doing it.

No. No, she would not.

I'm 90% sure that episode 9 is when the network notes based on "fan response" started getting worked in to the scripts, which, *by sheer coincidence*, is when the Mon-El stuff started going off the rails.

Winn/Lena 4EVA!

Once, in episode 7.

They would be, if they actually did the stories. But they don't. The show has not only disregarded, but actively avoided the inherent conflicts of a non-superpowered, sports-trained photojournalist, backed up only by his dweeby, genius friend (who really does have better things to do), trying to be a superhero in a

According to Wikipedia, it's in New York.

And it's not like she's been understanding of him being a Daxamite of any kind, let alone the Prince. Anyone would think the Daxamites destroyed their own planet and rendered Krypton a lifeless wasteland.

Or everyone comes to Earth-38, on the trail of Earth-1 Toyman.

It also helped that Buffy did theirs at the start of the season, when they still knew exactly where their characters would be in their emotional arcs, and could write songs and prep over the summer break.

I like that the bodyguard lie was completely plausible. Kind of a Gurney Halleck/Duncan Idaho hybrid.

I look forward to the contortions of logic necessary to justify Mon-EL lying about being the Prince of Daxam (because Kara was totally cool with him being a regular Daxamite) is an unforgivable sin, while Kara lying to Lena about being human (because she's a Luthor and Kara doesn't really trust her) is completely fine.

The haste in which they were thrown together rubbed me the wrong way (because the last thing we need is more nerdy guys thinking they're entitled to sex just for being nice); but this re-contextualisation is good, as is Winn not (yet) having enough self-respect to dump her and move on (assuming, of course, this
