Dollars to donuts the rogue agency in question was ICE. Those fuckers don’t give two shits about the law, and their authority to violate the Constitution has unfortunately long-standing judicial precdent.

The 4th gen has coil springs in the rear too. Suspension wise it’s pretty much exactly the same as the DT. I’ll be honest I don’t tow much with my 18 Ram 1500 but when I do it’s drives fine. I do get what you mean how the Hemi need high RPMs to get moving, the think it’s just the nature of the engine, but once it…
I generally have taken the same view. I need to replace my primary vehicle first, but it is tempting to take advantage of these inexpensive EVs like the Bolt after $7500 off for a commuter car.
there are over 130,000 public chargers across the entire country
According to the AAR (association of american rail roads), the median train length is about 5400 feet long in 2022
This is the same for my wife. An EV would be perfect for her. She drives about 15 miles a day most days, but she has a CT200h (Lexus Prius) that gets 40-50 MPG and it is paid off. We bought it used for around $18k 6.5 years ago. The payoff for an EV would essentially be infinite at this point.
I guess this will determine if I’m going gas or electric.
My only concern is that airlines will use it as an excuse to say “Suck it!”
They know that even if they were choking on all the lithium in the universe they are so far behind the EV development curve that by the time they get to critical mass with electrified product density it will be too late.
We can both agree that those stroads that allow car and bicycle traffic on the same road are absolute abominations. I suppose I forgot to identify the importance of good infrastructure in conjunction with speed reductions.
Most people just don’t know what to do. Good example would be when a bunch of cars are sitting at a red light, an emergency vehicle is approaching from behind, and the light suddenly turns green.
I’ve said for a long time that Mazdas look a lot more premium than they are. They have very good design language and features. I ended up owning a CX5 GT for some time before we up-sized.
Or a Starbucks somewhere in Silicon Valley...
The problem I have with that is that you’re buying the car with all the stuff already there. The company already spent the money to install all the equipment and the cost to do so was already built into the price of the car so now it feels like you’re be paying for it twice with this scheme.
I wanted my own thread, so I copied my reply.
This is less about constricting drivers and more about allowing cars and pedestrians to co-exist without the unnecessary threat of danger they’re constantly facing.
Do you have any sources whatsoever you can cite to support your claim re: lithium and contradict his? Or were you just hoping for stars with zero accountability?
Of very important note - this is great for surface streets, but lower highway speeds wont make that sort of difference.
And so would no hand-held cell phone use and for that matter no smoking, drinking/eating, and other distracting things but we might as well go after the low hanging fruit of people who will actually abide by the lower speed limits.
I love that we are now in an era where a 3-4 ton SUV doing 0-60 in 9 seconds is considered notably slow.
