I agree that certain incandescents seemed to last forever, and it’s mostly true in places like can lights and enclosed fixtures where the temperature was relatively stable and there were no vibrations. On ceiling fans and table lamps, vibrations would lead to a quick failure of the filament.

CFL’s are garbage and the left had banned incandescent bulbs before a suitable replacement was available. Disapproving of that is reasonable.
