I doubt his head would dissolve, sadly. I don't even think he'd begin to understand. One has to feel fear and helplessness to begin that process. Some guys may understand much of it for that reason. I doubt there's many.

I tend to think there are a few of us who come close to understanding: those who've been beaten, abused, and used to the point where we watch every step, every movement around, never truly relaxing even when 'safe' at home. It happens.

I wasn't playing devil's advocate. I was repeating what both the police and my insurer told me when I bumped someone in just such a circumstance. I won't be surrendering my license any time soon.

It's a bit on the stream of consciousness side of things, but I think I got it. The difference is I'd often call your douche bags "aggressive", where I'd call myself and gravit8 assertive.
