Pennsylvania. Every road that’s not brand new has pot holes. Due to the heavy limestone bedrock in my area of the state we have horrible sinkholes that swallow up whole streets or have long vacant quarries just cave in. A road at the other end of my county is a STATE HIGHWAY that has now had THREE bridges build

We’ve turned the whole state into a suspension proving ground. You’re welcome America. If it can survive Michigan roads, it can survive all the roads.

Every time I drive through Michigan I wonder how people ride motorcycles in a state that has ankle-deep potholes and slits on the interstates. Imagine having your tires stuck in a 10-in deep slit while going 60mph down the road.

Indeed. Had a very fun conversation with my dad when he got back from Italy for the first time on this sort of topic.

And that’s just where there are roads. It’s insane how you can be driving through the suburbs in SE Michigan and it just turns to dirt. Not in a rural area, but actual suburbs with people living there. And then there’s the residential roads just not getting plowed because there’s, like, 4 plows for all of Washtenaw

Don’t know about the rest of the country, but in the Midwest, it’s definitely Michigan, and just about everyone here knows it too.

I would like to believe that a lot of people could be helped with better access to mental health care, but throw "serial" in front of anything and we can find a cell for them.

Agree, but I do think there is a difference between (for lack of a better word) ordinary criminals versus those who just see the rest of humanity as vending machines.

Lol, so basically all the interspecies predators with a pathological deficit of empathy and compassion—or put another way, people too dangerous to society to just be out and walking around.

I’m for prison abolition except for white collar crime. Basically, just serial killers and white collar criminals in jail together.

Maybe you can think of it along the lines of Dante’s Inferno, where treachery and fraud occupy the bottom two circles of hell. If your sin is deep enough to land you here, then prison time is justified and deserved.

This is one of those very few situations that shakes my general position as being pro-prison abolition. Like most fraud, this was clearly a deliberated upon scheme to cheat people perpetratrated by a person with plenty of options and prospects. I don’t know how you rehabilitate whatever it is that makes a person

lol. same.... i was thinking the other way around, just a mercedes with an AMC straight 6 swapped in.

Can confirm. I’ve had one for 7 years. Got it for $3000. It has a broken odometer and had 190,000 miles when I got it. I’d say I put another 60k.

Gah!! I read that as “AMC swap” and instantly pictured an Eagle with the W123 swapped in!!!

These cars are not THAT expensive to fix. They are stupendously easy to DIY work on. The HVAC is actually a mid-70s Chrysler abomination. The vacuum system is not THAT complex, but in old age you really do have to go through it and replace ALL the rubber junctions in the hoses, or you will be chasing leaks forever.

I want a wagon with a slight lift and a two door with a pick your favorite AMG swap.

I’ve always liked those body-color wheel centers.
