No way. 3.5mm is cheap and widely available. The best attributes of a low tech solution. Pry mine from my cold dead hands.

Thing is, the iPhone will still need a DAC to run the internal speakers, so they’re not saving anything by getting rid of the headphone port (other than it being a little bit more waterproof). They could (and do, I believe) already send a pure digital signal through the lightning port for those who want to use an…
The connection type has nothing to do with the quality but rather the amp (DAC). Inside your phone there is a very small amp (DAC) which is based off some pretty old technology and the quality is not great. By taking this out, the headphone companies can make there own amp (DAC) that would be way better. Here is a…
I guess the theory is that the file can passed digitally to an external DAC via the lightning/usb port. But if the file is lossy to begin with I’m not sure what that gains you. Music has always sounded great to me over the normal headphone jack as long as the file I’m playing is good. Removal of the jack apparently…
It’s a very strong disincentive for what? Thinner phone? Nobody needs a thinner phone.
I’m no audiophile, but I don’t think USB is supposed to sound any better than 3.5mm. I can’t think of any advantages to the consumer, though there’s a clear advantage for the manufacturers who would get to save money by ditching a port (and could potentially also make the phone thinner because of it, but I’m not sure…
There’s way too many disadvantages to this than there are advantages (which are what? just slightly better sounding audio?)
No, if the iPhone 7 comes without a 3.5mm jack I will switch to something else, I’ve been holding off on replacing my 5S until the 7 announcement but I’m not going to deal with adapters that cost $ and get lost often.
Ball joints and wheel bearings are absolutely considered normal maintenance.
Did you read the article that you linked? It’s not about a Crown Vic but Escape Hybrid.
While it is a rather major repair, replacing a Drive Unit in a Tesla is much much easier than replacing an engine in a regular car. A lot of early Model S’ had drive unit issues and had have them replaced; this is no longer an issue.
Yep. And Tesla replaced them free of charge within 24 hours. Which sounds very impressive.
Certainly a major issue for the vehicle, but non-major for a customer who can have their car back in 24 hours and not spend a penny on it (while under warranty). Engine overhauls can take a lot of time/rack up unexpected costs in a hurry.
Isn’t this kinda like why Comey didn’t recommend pressing charges against Hildog? Lack of evidence for intent...
I’m not sure if I’m supposed to be touched or turned on right now.
You are right of course, but at the same time, that has nothing to do with these 2 people genuinely being decent human beings to one another.
watch out, there’s some guy/girl commenting about how it’s a privilege to get to volunteer as many people from around the world do it to enjoy the game... (completely disregarding, in their argument, the actual corruption and destructiveness of the cash flow to private companies and rich people)
Dawwww what great Olympic spirit. Almost makes you forget about things like how the IOC is barely feeding their volunteers and making them work insane hours for free while IOC executives get $900 a day as an allowance.
That’s what HOAs are for. If you can’t stand the sight of a well-kept, expensive trailer in someone’s driveway, you should make your largest investment in a neighborhood where the HOAs motto is: “Absolutely no fun allowed, whatsoever!”
I see your POV, and on one level I agree.
