He can just come back as a force ghost right?

My mom thought she had a stomach issue. In the bathroom a lot and a pain in her abdomen. After brief unsuccessful treatment by a gastroenterologist he had her scanned and there it was, already in her lungs and liver. And unlike most cancers it doesn’t show up in blood screenings. Detection is almost always too late.

My mother just died of pancreatic cancer two days ago. It was detected, stage four, just before Christmas. The chemo dose required to counter it when this advanced is bad enough to make people call it off, as my mother did after having to be admitted to the hospital after one treatment. I wish Trebek luck, but am not

Alex Trebek is an institution. Every night my family would gather around to watch ABC World News Tonight with Peter Jennings, followed by Wheel of Fortune and then Jeopardy. I lost it when Peter passed away. I’ll probably lose it when Alex does, too.

I have stage 4 cancer and I do talk about the survival rate. I’m 3 years since diagnosis and most likely have maybe 2 left. Talking about it with my family and friends especially my son has helped me a lot.

I am sorry for your loss. My grandfather made it 10.5 months back in 1993. A colleague at work made it a couple years, with a really healthy period in the middle (kind of like Steve Jobs). People do make it, and let us hope that everyone fighting it is one of those people.

Ugh, I’m so sorry. This hits close to home, because my dad has it now. He was supposed to be one of the lucky ones (as “lucky” as anyone with pancreatic cancer can be considered, which is decidedly not lucky)—they caught it early, still small, hadn’t spread, perfect candidate for operation. After several months of

My dad was gone 2 weeks after diagnosis. Stomach pain, doctor’s visit, and just gone. I donate to the Lustgarten Foundation and, given that there is some genetic risk, worry about myself and my brother.

I’d be happy with Chuck Woolery as well.

That’s all I cared about when I was diagnosed with a stage 3 glioblastoma in 2013. Brain surgery, radiation and more chemo than I care to remember and I’m still here...bitching about this goddamn never ending winter hell:)

my best man’s dad was dead within 6 weeks of diagnosis. As you said, early detection is hard as there are no symptoms.

Someone should start a petition to have Prime Mister Trudeau appoint Alex Trebek, Governor General of Canada, for at least a day before it’s too late.

Look everyone, it’s Debbie Downer.

Sajak is more plastic now than man, malleable and evil.

What a boss. Staring the goddamn grim reaper in the face and he cracks a joke that makes everyone laugh.

This sucks :(

Thank you for this. I got to know Alex a bit better during my original run in 2006 (pictured) and the 2007 ToC. As you noted, he did his job and did it well, but he wasn’t one to hobnob much with the contestants, and that was perfectly fine. The only time we really socialized with him at all was at the on-set

Pancreatic cancer is hard to detect at an early stage—what symptoms you may experience could be mistaken for other illnesses, and doctors can’t feel around for it like they can check out your heart, lungs, thyroid. It’s usually not treatable by surgery (because of how close it is to other important vessels and organs,

I’ll take “fuck this stupid earth” for $2000 Alex.
