Coming from an iPad 1 owner, that's not an iPad 1. It has rounded edges.

Omni ($499) + Oculus ($300) + Kinect ($90) + Gun Controller ($50?) + PC capable of playing games on Rift ($750+) = $1700. The PC is the killer because a low-end gaming PC won't be able to run games to Rift specs, but a lot of people tend to forget this cost for your average consumer.

They weren't crushing the idea, just its sales and marketing strategies (or lack thereof). It's not about whether it's a good idea, in fact most things presented on the show are fairly ingenious. It's about whether or not the idea will make enough money for a return on the investment. The Omni is a great idea, but

He didn't even mention having to buy the Kinect sensor and a decent gaming PC to power the Rift. To get the experience that the demonstrator had from scratch would be in the ballpark of $1750 depending on how much is spent on the PC. Combined with the likely impossibility of trying one out for yourself before buying

Yeah, I guess Bungie hasn't had a title available on Playstation since Oni on the PS2, so it's been a longer while.

I guess MGS V is a better parallel then?

It's basically the mirror image of Playstation fans being upset that Insomniac Games is making an Xbox One exclusive. It's like everything is being flipped upside down for this gen.

Did the video "have to be released", or is he just trying to showcase UI navigation? I think it's more of a promotion than damage control.

The resolution difference will be the most pronounced on Call of Duty because the gap is 1080p vs. 720p. It appears that most other multiplatform titles have smaller gaps (720 vs 900 for BF4, 1080 vs 900 for AC IV). While the difference won't be invisible, it isn't always so cut and dry as this example

I think the image darkness could be an artifact if direct HDMI capture. Since you're going to adjust the brightness and contrast on your TV, and games usually offer this calibration from the start, what you see could actually vary. I played through AC IV on my XB1 and I never had an issue with the picture being too

You can view full-res images of the PS4 and Xbox One versions at The Verge. (I recommend opening both images and tabbing between them, or checking out the cool image slider near the end of this article.) The Xbox One version is upscaling a 900p image to 1080p and in the process appears to be making the image darker

Sony is so lucky to have you around to rush to their rescue when a positive article about the Xbox One pops up.

Parents with a budget for the holidays.

If I'm not mistaken, the internals are nearly identical between the S and the E

KI seems like a very piecemeal game, so it wouldn't surprise me if they released a new $3-5 character once a month or something. The roster issue could be temporary.

OXM is not part of Microsoft

They were written by two different people, so it's not quite a double standard.

You're comparing your experience watching trailers and gameplay vids to the experience of somebody who has actually sunk 15-18 hours into the game? If a trailer or controlled demo doesn't make a game look great, marketers haven't done their job. You'd be in a better position to argue with the review once you've played

The genre has become stagnant in that past few years. If you're going to make a first-person shooter nowadays, you'd better make sure it is somehow unique or intriguing if you want it to gain critical approval, like Bioshock: Infinite or Dishonored.
