Polygon also gave it a "meh" review with 5/10, so it's not just Kotaku. Just because somebody's opinion doesn't confirm your pre-held notions doesn't mean they "suck at reviewing games". Wait to play the game for yourself to decide whether or not a review was accurate.

"Xbox Pause" and "Xbox Play" are also winners in my book.

I think you'll get at least 8 hours out of it if you try tackling the missions in multiple ways as Kojima intends.

Here's a handy chart to see if the difference in resolution actually matters given your current TV setup.

I'm one of the lazy TV watchers you speak of. The HDMI through and Kinect IR-blasting outweigh the extra $100 and slightly lower graphical fidelity in my opinion. I've paid more than $100 for less capable universal remotes than the Kinect.

Respawn has a small team of around 75 people. For comparison, DICE has 323 employees (according to Wikipedia). Respawn even had to outsource the 360's port because it would add too much to their workload. I think it was more of an issue of limited resources and setting priorities than an issue of not wanting/willing

After the expensive precedent they set by extending the 360's warranty to 3 years, I would expect that they would expend a significant effort to eliminate potential hardware issues.

People like to be right. Early adopters hype the product because they want their pre-order to have been the right move, while later adopters un-hype because they want waiting and seeing to be the right move. Really there's no universal right answer because it depends on what the consumer values. Some people buy early

The games might be cheaper. Still, you could just keep the console in its box and wait for Watch_Dogs to release and it would be the same thing.

I see purchasing a launch-day Xbox One almost like buying an iPad. It's arguably foremost an entertainment and media consumption device with gaming abilities thrown into the mix, so its utility is realized at launch rather than years later. That is assuming the Xbox One has decent launch compatibility with cable boxes

This doesn't make sense. Why not drop to 900p or decrease other graphical settings first if 1080p at 60 fps wasn't achievable. 720p seems like such a radical change from their self-stated goal back in June.

Why update the article if the silly used game video is still in it? It's true info, but the joke is a bit outdated and would seem bizarre for those just tuning in.

Like he's just reading the morning paper or something

We'll see. Like I said, I'm optimistic, but cautiously so. Hopefully the addition of GTA Online makes a bigger user base more profitable, so they'll be motivated to release more ports. Also, it would be awkward for their inevitable DLC to come out for current gen only after 6-8 months into the next generation.

Idk about that, but "Xbox off" does bring up an "Are you sure?" dialogue box

I hope it makes it to next gen, but I'm not terribly optimistic. I can't imagine that many future early adopters haven't already bought and played GTA V on existing consoles, so there might not be a big enough market to make porting worthwhile, especially since Rockstar already has a habit of dragging their feet on

I'm really looking forward to see how Destiny plays out. As Bungie's first non-Halo venture in over a decade, it's pretty vital that they nail it to prove they aren't a one-trick pony. I'm optimistic though. I think we just haven't seen much yet of what it has to offer and they're saving up the good stuff for the lead

Well, this is a speculative article based on Mehdi's explanation of Kinect's features. It's not like another MS spokesperson went on stage and said they designed Kinect to gather information.

In what universe is making a joke regarding Gabe Newell anywhere near "hip"? Contrarian, yes, but sometimes we gamers need somebody to tell us not to take this so seriously every now and then, which makes reads like this funny.

I'm curious who their target market is for such a device. It seems like it would be a subset of Steam users who don't already have a PC they love. Is there a big enough market there?
