Let’s break this car down a bit, and discover why I believe it’s CP.

I’m not buying those CHP #’s with those claimed WHP #’s. Something isn’t right, there.
Having driven the standard M550i xDrive, and the new M5, I can’t figure out why you wouldn’t spend 2k more on an M5 vs this S1. You could lease an M5/M550i, and turn back in, before it’s N63 derived engine started pissing coolant/oil…
As someone who’s been at the same dealership, and get this...I’m a millennial, who’s rapidly closing in on 5 years, I hope you are joking. Everyone who emails me asking for a price quote, gets one. It may not be the best one they get, but generally when a client sees that there is a live, real, reasonable person on…
Have them on my 540. Didn’t care for them initially but they’ve really grown on me.
No need to get shitty here fren, hell I left the 535 home today and drove my 2000 540i6. Point is, if you don’t have to pay a dealer to service these cars, or even your friendly local indy, they generally aren’t any more difficult to repair than a Lexus or whatever of the same vintage.
It’s more about being familiar…
I’ve had BMW’s for years, all but one were 5+ years old. Hell the last E6x I had was an ‘06 M5. The closest thing I’ve had to an electrical issue in any of them were stretched battery cable terminals. The sun shades are manual in an E61. No shade on the rear-most window. If Lane departure fails, I’ll code it out. If…
Oh the irony.
BMW Sales person here.
There’s no way this will go over well. I love the brand, have had everything from an e36 318ti, E46 M3, E60 M5, F30 328i, and currently have a 540i6.
Incredibly sad this is the way things are going. If you’re paying this kind of money for a car, it needs to be standard.
Where abouts are you located? Can’t be much help with the ABS Module, but if you’re close to me(SW Ohio) myself and a friend of mine are able to completely disable the SAP/Tune out the error for it. All of these vehicles had SAP’s, but not all markets were required to set a CEL for it. I’ve removed it entirely on 3…
My 540i is a grumpy bitch at anything below 10*F. We’ve been seeing temps around -10*F here(even with it in the garage, that heat is wicked pretty quickly). For reference, radiator inlet temp after sitting for two hours the other morning was -3*F.
The engine cooperates, but until the cats get hot and warm the trans a…
One with only 80k miles to boot. Wtf.
Oh I know. I work for a BMW dealership in Cincinnati. I’ve tried at various points in my 4 year tenure here to snatch cars like that at auction/from private sellers for inventory and have ZERO luck...because 90% of the time they, or Toy Barn outbid me. Less overhead I guess.
I stopped by enthusiast a couple of weeks…
I just drove my friend to Detroit to pick up a 2002 M5 a couple of months back. We knew what it needed mechanically before we went, had the parts waiting at home and did it that weekend(Valve Cover Gaskets, Tstat, and oil separators) I absolutely adore that car. As much as the M5 shares with the 540i....it’s a totally…
I had an 06 SMG for 2 years, and 3 years later it’s still the one that got away. Nothing compares with the sensory overload that is that car when it’s driven hard. I think the only “non-standard” maintenance item it needed were thrust arm bushings, and a failed seat occupancy mat....which was covered under a BMW…
I’ve had many BMW’s at this point, all vanos 6, 8, and yes, the S85 V10. Not once have I had an issue with vanos. It’s either way overblown, or I need to play the lottery for the first time.
With the exception of replacing the outer gasket on the vanos solenoids on an M62Tu.
11-14 Jetta. No question.
I’ve been driving them for years, nary an issue that left me hanging...then this weekend I was stranded in David Tracy country in my E46. Starter motor seized.
So mad I traded mine for my E39, which I just totaled thanks to Bambi.
Facelift E60 550i M-Sport, if you ask me.
The e39 I think looks old, but it’s lines are so good and tight it doesn’t matter.
