The up front cost can definitely be tough to swallow, but you’re essentially doubling the lifespan of both so the long term cost is no different. Could be lower if you consider how much you wear down tires by spinning them on snow and ice.

This looks like it would be great at murdering pedestrians.

Seems pretty obvious to me.

Has anyone managed to make a decent looking/performing charging station yet? Like one that you can through a couple laptops, tablets, and phones on without cords dangling everywhere and doesn’t look like it was made in somebody’s home woodworking shop?

The longest commute I’ve ever had is 8 miles. I’ve organized my professional life around avoiding big commutes because I value my time and my sanity highly.

159 is 159 too many. It also doesn’t quantify the amount of air pollution being pumped into everyone’s lungs so that folks can sit in their personal living room in traffic instead of walking or taking a train.

I know it wasn’t intended to be humorous. That’s why it’s so funny.

LOL

People on bikes break traffic laws (designed for cars) at the same rate as motorists. Which one causes more mayhem?

Utter bullshit. Using idpol to misdirect and avoid admitting that the rank and file voted for Bernie while the superdelegates voted for Warren is incredibly craven. You think you'll find liberation by "playing ball"? Just another group of suckers in a long line of them.

Ditto all of this. I’m hoping VW doesn’t sell too many of these tweener EV’s to blow through their EV credits by the time the Buzz is available.

Pedestrian deaths have gone up 52% since the release of the first smartphone. Now this company wants to put a mega-tablet in their drivers’ faces. 3,166 people killed from distracted driving in 2017 alone. The DOT estimated the value of a human life at $6 million. That’s $19 billion a year. Pretty expensive.

They should make cars less safe for the driver so they'll stop murdering people while checking Twitter.

Totally agree. Just a simple pro / con list should make this an incredibly easy decision.

I’m 6'5" and have done the 14 hour flight to Japan in coach multiple times, once while blowing chunks out of both ends, so I think I could handle it just fine. I wouldn’t be thrilled though.

Driving around a super-densely populated island you can walk across in 45 minutes and which has tons of transit options is like the Platonic ideal of psychopathic climate denialism.

“If you take a small segment of the larger problem, the larger problem doesn’t look so bad!” Thanks for that genius level take.

I followed the link you gave. Here’s one that shows that the type of reusable bag matters greatly in determining how “green” it is. Certain reusables only require 11 uses before they are better for the environment.

I was prepared and yet your stat appears nowhere in that link. Disappointing.

Diesel-powered motor vehicles account for about 4 percent of the fleet (figure 1), but they account for about half of the on-road NOx emissions. In 2013, gasoline-powered motor vehicles contributed 2,365 kilotons; in comparison, diesel-powered motor vehicles contributed 2,125 kilotons of on-road NOxemissions [USEPA
