They legally can’t restrict repairs to specific shops. Since they own their repair shops, they could ostensibly set a lower labor rate for Tesla insurance claims, but that doesn’t mean the customer has to go there, and the insurance company is obligated to pay prevailing rates for labor if they’re being asked for at

Wow. This sucks. That makes me really sad. I didn’t know her, but her appearances on The Smoking Tire Podcast were always very fun and insightful. She was a really special and brave person. Hope you’re romping around in some straight-piped V8 baja truck in that big off-road park in the sky.

I just listened to an old Smoking Tire podcast with her last week.

She decided it was better to live a day as a lion instead of year as a sheep.

Dammit.

Too low, not too slow.

Turo is a great way to find out if you want a car long term. I rented 4 different cars from it for a weekend each time before settling. I tried a Focus RS and was so glad I didn’t buy one. It’s a hoot to borrow but I couldn’t live with it.

I can’t disagree with you there, especially if they used some variation of that image I found!

Yup, a cousin used to pay me to swap her radio in a 90's Jetta every time it needed to get smogged because it would through a fault with out the stock radio.

I’ve thought about how that would go (I don’t have an Exocet but I’d like to) and honestly, I’d have some motorcycle goggles and good earplugs on my packing list.

An exclusive economic zone is different than territorial waters. Territorial waters essentially extend a nation’s borders 12 miles into the ocean. An exclusive economic zone just grants certain economic rights to the nation in question. For instance, Russia could legally park a warship 13 nautical miles off the coast

Somebody please do some research.

LOL. Found it.

Quite a bit of the problem (as someone who had to be aware of the maritime emissions regs) is that the standards a marine vessel has to meet depend on the country in which the vessel is registered/flagged, much like how different states here have different plating and inspection requirements for cars.

How about "stupidity"? That about covers it.

Where the rental companies come in is the ability to use their money to induce a lot of demand (which directly causes political will) very quickly.

CARB does need a swift kick in the nuts and told to hire some actual engineers because they have no idea how any vehicle actually works or what changes any modification actually does. I would submit my modified car to a sniffer test without any worry of not passing because a well done tune and high flow cats really

Enforcing the rules in place would be a good start. I haven’t seen one in the wild wearing a helmet despite local law, which the cops don’t enforce because they couldn’t care less. Even the parking police don’t ticket the ones blocking the sidewalk because who would they write it to?

Orange man bad. Change the record.

Yeah I didn’t intend to imply Critical Mass is some kind of perfect thing, just that even cyclists intuitively understand the safety in numbers concept. And yes scooter companies have money (for now...) but money really isn’t the problem. Fantastic bike lanes are very cheap by municipal budget standards. It’s a matter
