You're right; the end goal of comedy is to make people laugh and this did for a solid 84 minutes. It's kind of mystifying to expect anything more, especially with something like this.

That's a surprisingly tepid reaction to the special. I thought this was peak Triumph. It was hilarious.
As ridiculous as it sounds, when you attend shows like this, they really encourage you to laugh hard. Like, they literally tell you "Please laugh as hard as you can." That's probably why you'll hear some over the top laughs in the audiences of these shows.
I do have to wonder how much truth there is to people saying they didn't want the job. I'm not saying she or anyone else who said that doesn't feel that way though.
I'm pretty sure Lindsay is a Trump supporter and Nellie is too busy blowing people (away) to care about politics.
After watching this, I'm kind of baffled as to why she didn't get The Daily Show. Trevor Noah is fine, but this was hilarious. I'm equally confused why Jessica Williams didn't get it.
It was pretty good with room for improvement and a strong cast. I'm surprised it's been cancelled so quickly.
What they said they were going to do for potential second and third seasons sounded pretty great. I think it knew where to take its premise.
I still think Bryan Fuller should say "fuck it" and use his current clout to make a second season of that show. It already has had a posthumous life in Pushing Daisies and Hannibal crossovers (as well as, kind of, a Heroes crossover years ago).
I'm not trying to be insulting or rude, but you're rather naive if you think Yannis is the kind of shithead confined to cartoon villainy. People like Yannis are currently propelling one of the biggest assholes in America to the presidency. We live in a time of loudmouth racist assholes, and their power is accelerating…
Yeah, exactly. Everyone in the family is pretty damn intelligent, and uses it to varying (legitimate and illegitimate) degrees. Frank has wasted his potential the most though, by far.
Shameless is great, but I wouldn't say no to more Emmy Rossum elsewhere because I'm a sane human being.
While I like Noel Fisher a lot, I feel like I'm one of the few that thinks Mickey really is not a great person for Ian. He could do a lot better. Regardless, Mickey being in prison now is kind of pathetic so I'd feel bad if Ian went ahead and dated someone else too.
"Now to present my manhood to the sun!"
Late teens to early thirties is an age group that essentially doesn't exist in Springfield. I've always wondered if that fact influenced Futurama's character concepts (Fry, Leela, and Amy all have no equivalents on The Simpsons) and early plots.
Yeah, and there's been other instances of calling out the ridiculous stereotypes in Springfield. This episode was kind of unique in its major emphasis on that, but it's not alone.
I don't think they're quite that old, but they're definitely older than Maggie despite that being completely nonsensical.
I like seeing the interactions of two non-Simpsons family characters too. Some of my favorite exchanges in the show have been rooted in that. Ned's tear down of different Springfieldians in "Hurricane Neddy" that culminated in telling Lenny "And as for you, I don't know you, but I'm sure you're a jerk!" is amazing.
Nope! Shameless is great and hasn't noticeably deteriorated. In fact, in a lot of ways it's better than it was.
Not sure what you're talking about. I see season four get quote a lot, even in this article.
