Maggie Elizabeth Jones has to be like a genetically modified, super child. She's really good in this for a seven year old.

Mindy Project was funnier in my opinion, but this was surprisingly good. I had really low expectations, and it completely exceeded them.

I'm kind of surprised they didn't have him at least tap the car behind him.

Hate definitely has more potential,  but shows like Parks & Recreation handle all the crippling love pretty well.

Agreed absolutely. How many great shows have been destroyed or sabotaged by this ridiculous criticism? Tons.

The show was establishing that the character has been shaped, for better or for worse, through pop culture. I really don't see an issue with dropping references when they help establish who a character is. Community does this, like, 20 times an episode with Abed.

That's the best way to end a sitcom episode in 90% of situations really.

I want a completely professional doctor to star, with everything going for her. Also, why does this have all those jokes and silly situations?!

I thought it was one of the funniest lines in the episode. The Mindy character isn't really a bad person. She just wants what she perceives to be easier patients, and non-English speaking, poverty stricken, religious women aren't easy. It was hardly offensive.

Yeah, same here. Far from thinking the pilot was weak, I actually am not sure how the rest of the show will keep up the energy and standards set by the pilot.

I think sketch comedy shows can get away with them because they can go more broad, and sacrifice character. There's no story. Actual sitcoms suffer from them because they actually do have stories, and have the time to do more subtle humor.
