I had no idea this was the case until I saw someone moving a massive barrel around and it makes perfect sense. That’s a great photo, thanks for posting!

Train trivia - did you know the train wheel itself actually IS a flat-sided cylinder in cross-section? It’s the tyre which has the conical or “fast” angle?
Baseball bats and knives have primary uses other than killing. I’m sick of that NRA talking point.
I just like to offer my condolences on the death of reasoned discourse
I’m now picturing you standing next to a train pointing at its wheels. But closer inspection reveals you’re actually pointing at some dog poop on the ground.
Really? It’s as easy to kill with a knife or rebar? Would you rather be carjacked at knife point or gun point? And that it’s a societal issue is exactly my point.
As a chicago resident you idiots bleating on about Chicago as an example of gun control not working are out of your dumbass minds- you know where guns in Chicago come from? Every fucking collar county/state around Chicago that doen’t have laws.
This shit gives me a hard-on. :) Great post, Andrew!
“Meanwhile let’s get that wall built, worry about immigrants and don’t do a fucking thing about gun control.”
Almost right. The flanges on the wheels are actually responsible for keeping the train from coming off the track. For slight curves and straights is where the angle on the wheels, or“fast angle”, comes into play. It keeps the axles in the middle of the track and off of the flanges. This movement is known as “hunting”.…
I just assumed it was because all these kids and their newfangled “STANCEBRO” cars influencing train design. Thomas chuffed off to the Staceworks where Victor was fabricating some dope-ass spacers for the narrow-gauge steamies to roll up out the quarry. “Noice!” said Rheneas.
Chicago has some of the strictest gun controls in the nation. They also have one of the highest rates of gun violence. Less public access to firearms has not made the city safer. Arguably, it has made it worse off.
I just got a mental image of someone with a rifle down their pants walking all stiff legged going “nothing to see here” XD
“having less access to guns makes places safer from gun violence”
It’s also a cultural thing. In the US, gun ownership is a right. Everyone feels entitled to own a gun and “shoot em up some bad guys.” In Canada, gun ownership is a privilege. Here, to get a gun you have to take a course and pass a test proving you understand safe and responsible gun ownership to get a firearms…
I did a double-take when I saw they let him keep the win, TBH. That’s nuts. Then again, a lot of their penalties get released during the week, so who knows if there’ll be a fine or something else after the fact.
At least it’s clear that, if NASCAR doesn’t do anything about this, Custer will, in the Chase. Just like Kenseth vs Logano.
‘Twas horseshit. I’ve been around stock car racing all of my 31 years and that is the single most shameful race ending I have ever witnessed. Nemechek should be parked for embarrassing everyone associated with the race and taking away a good ending from everyone who watched it.
That is the most deliberate attempt to wreck someone I have ever seen. If I was in charge Nemechek would have been DQ’d. That kind of bullshit disgusts me.
