I have an acquaintance who did the Oprah Book Club and she said Oprah was cold as ice and ignored everyone until the cameras started rolling, at which point she turned it on and started being Oprah and acting like she liked them and cared what they had to say about the book.

Seriously. My only foray into interviewing was for a school project (podcast format) and my teammate refused to prepare so all of his half of the work was garbage for this reason.

Real Sports has been one of my favorite shows for years precisely for this reason. Also, while I haven’t watched in years, I grew up watching CBS Sunday Morning and some of their interviewers over the years were good, although my friends always laughed at me and said “I didn’t know you were 60.”
