The thread of recognizing and implicitly criticizing herself as someone with a need to be seen as different, deep, special- that was pretty clear to me throughout the excerpt. Is the problem here subtlety? You would have her be more explicit in tearing down her late-teenage self? Or are you suggesting that you can't

Eh, if they sound horrible, it's in the I'm-so-unique-and-special way that many, many people that age are, whatever you swap these specific details out for. I like that they are horrible together. I think it's a good description of the kind of friendship that often develops before or during college, but rarely after.

Yup. I think it's great.

No advice- just keep going. You're almost there. You can do this.

Report them to the landlord, then the city?

Nope, sounds fine to me.

YES! This is what I wanted to comment. Pre-childbirth, I never got anything close to classic PMS. A couple days of the blues, maybe. After? Holy shit. Parenthood has also, uh, put me in closer touch with my anger more generally, but this is different.

"I wanted to kill everyone and eat everything."

Yes, somebody please explain. Like, follow the bouncing ball lyric video? Or..?

I used to like them, but cannot handle anymore. I think there's a major oversyruping problem that contributes.

In answer to your question, I'm not sure we get much from immediately knowing a suspect's name, provided they pose no ongoing threat to the public. I absolutely believe in transparency once charges have been brought or arrests made; having the information is essential for public oversight.

What you argue here, as I mentioned in another response below, is the most convincing case I've seen made for the release of this information. I always have questions about the motives Anonymous has for acting, even when they seem to be white knighting, and part of what I'm chewing on is whether doxxing is likely to

If I recall correctly, when this has happened in other cities the name(s) of the police officers have been released usually within the first 18-24 hours.

Don't tase me bro, etc., but honest question: what do we get from knowing his name? Presumably he will not be making public comments on the case. Best case, I guess we find out more about his history? Worst case, well.

...we are in the process of evaluating how we can further improve our policies...

Was that a medical-professional-brag? ;)

I think Claire's steel accent trap goes perfectly with her character. She is so calculated and in control of every little thing that it makes sense to me that her manner of speaking would be part of that. (Also, I don't remember where in Texas she's supposed to be from, but here in Dallas there are many people without
