I think people can be sad about the building, but the outrage is coming from our governments seeming lack of funds to take care of internal problems, (PR, Flint) while having no problem doling out money to an organization that can clearly finance it’s own re-building/ restoration efforts.

For real. The Catholic Church (Vatican) has an estimated net worth of 30 Billion. That’s just the Vatican. They can take care of their own.
