True story — I actually like the i8. A lot. But it's BS when someone tries to assert that BMW is the brand of the future, and Mercedes is the brand of the past. Mercedes consistently breaks ground with new tech that is then co-opted by other brands.

"Sort of like BMW is already doing with the i8..."

Making a vehicle? It's just a concept. For a future really far off. It didn't look so bizarre, it wouldn't be credible.

Mercedes and Porsche always have to be crosstown rivals, I guess.

Methinks people have become too jaded in the horsepower wars. 467 is much less than rivals, but it's not an insignificant amount.

Later this year. Literally.

Except, of course, the Q60 has already been confirmed for production. It's coming later this year. Unlike the concepts you showed above, the Q60 is replacing an existing model. It's based on the platform of the current Q50 — which it looks quite similar to. It's happening. And it's happening soon. The head of Infiniti

"the moniker and avatar are a nod to the F1 team."

Looks great. I prefer it to the coupe.

I won't wade into this debate. But it's interesting McLaren's logo is your avatar. They build no manual cars.

Hey, I like Fareed Zakaria. He has the most interesting news broadcast this side of "60 Minutes."

Yes it does. The SL and S-Class Coupe are pillarless. This is not.

It's so weird how people respond to classic sports car proportions. Everyone thinks the Viper and AMGs are the same car, or that AMG copied the Viper.

Nope. The SLS and Viper were originally going to be developed together, but Chrysler didn't have enough money, so they dropped the project and AMG did it independently. The SRT Viper came years after the companies split, and was a separate project within Chrysler.

I totally get your point. But just to remind myself of the competition in this class, I looked at a couple stats. Car and Driver quotes the 0-60 time of the E63 4Matic wagon as 3.4 seconds. It's also a couple hundred pounds heavier than the sedan, which has slightly quicker acceleration.

Nope. I made an error in my previous comment. Aston raised £500 million, not $500 million. They're using that money in part for a new platform. It will be aluminum — like the current VH — but (according to the British press) for all intents and purposes, it will be a new platform. It's expected to be lighter weight

2016 is the new DB11. 2017 the new Vantage.

Aston has about $500 million or so from bonds/loans to develop its next-gen architecture and models. They are looking into further funding mechanisms currently.

You missed your shot. You should've tried to get it in the fucking CRomnibus that passed in the House yesterday. Between controversy over the banking deregulation and its 1600 other pages, no one would've fucking noticed.

The politicians in this country who rail against "onerous and pointless regulation" are not actually interested in passing legislation.
