I don’t think I’ve seen a Soltera neither, and I am in the Bay Area, which probably has more EV’s than anywhere else in the US.

I saw a Solterra the other day. I’m in southwest PA

This.  If Subaru has a Forester/Legacy/Outback PHEV to offer, sure, we’d go for that.  BEV versions of that?  Not until battery and charging tech gets a lot better.

For a while there, I was just giving Toyota the benefit of the doubt. You know, do things deliberately, slowly, conservatively, but get it right in the long run. Given that there are now a number of well sorted EVs ramping up to mass adoption, though, I’d say that run is a bit longer than they should be comfortable

yes people get caught up in the image the quote at the end shows this) But some genuinely like the feel, the sound and the tradition. There are mop heads for every brand...look at trucks ford vs chevy vs dodge. I have had plenty of stupid people wave their brand of x in my face and proclaim it best. Next time you see

They’re going to have a very hard time shaking their reputation.

A 300 mile range would be more than adequate for my daily 130 mile round-trip commute. It would, however, make it difficult to visit my in-laws (425 miles away) or my brother (1100 miles away).

Texas is really big...

I’ve been saying this for the past 2 years - the biggest hurdle to mass EV adoption is convincing people that they will fit their lifestyle. That’s why they will have such a hard time. You can’t force people to buy something if they don’t want to, no matter how much “sense” it makes.

These kind of cars fit probably 75-80% of all use cases for the average urban/suburban/exurban commuter but people act like we’re ripping the farm trucks out of their hands because they’re the one guy who tows horses for 2000 miles a week.

In this mode, the Dakar offers an approach angle of 16.1 degrees, departure of 18.8, and breakover of 19 degrees”

not hooning the living daylights out of this vehicle should be a criminal offense

I want to send this so hard. I’ve never wanted to send anything more in my life, but this? My gosh. I would send it and then send it some more. It must be sent. The 911 Dakar is begging: “Send Me.” It belongs in low-earth orbit, competing with satellites for send height and duration. I’m glad they’ve though about

Cycling during “rush hour” in Amsterdam is a blast. Replace bumper-to-bumper cars with tire-to-tire bikes....thousands....and you have to be quite skilled (and fearless) to avoid contact. Inches between bikes sometimes. All ages (literally, 3 — 90+ y.o.), speeds, bike styles and various giant kid-holding baskets

“I always try to downplay the start of production”, how can he seriously say this? That cannot be further from the truth.

At this point it will need its mid cycle refresh before it even hits full production.

Who, besides the weird nerds who unconditionally worship Elon, is going to buy one of these? Everything it had as a market advantage has already been done better by someone else. Want a normal truck that’s electric? Ford Lightning. Want a trendy, cool lifestyle one? Rivian. Want something outrageous that stands out?

haha - Old roadie and gravel habits die hard. Motors, on a BIKE? Heresy! Burn them all!

Why use lithium for e-bikes? Just work those quads.

Exactly. How many tons of oil are consumed everyday? Let’s see:

So much this. The fossil fuel industry does not want the damage that they do to the planet on a daily basis to be shown, so stuff like this gets published to deflect attention and help keep them profitable a few more years.
