this is the craziest shit i have ever read. When you have a full mesh environment you scale up the complexity of the protocols dramatically. If you have all to all hook up it would require a shit ton of bandwidth just for the basic protocol messaging.

Have you ever dealt with upper mngt? They want to be lied to. It both assauges their ego and it also gives them plausible deniability when/if any sort of regulatory issues arise.

Agreed. I was impressed. Excepting really steep/rough roads this past weekend i saw a crosstrek basically everywhere i went. Always cracks me up to see RZRs and Crosstreks at the same trailhead.
