I was looking at the picture above when I said bowl.  We use the sous vide container for the larger bags.  All extra water goes to water the plants on the balcony.  

Or if really desperate to get the air out, fill a large bowl with water and lower the bag into the water. That pushes the air out. We use this method for sous vide when we are too lazy to pull out the vacuum sealer.
