Not that casting Lewis Tan or somebody couldn’t have been good, but I don’t think were Marvel really screwed up was in keeping Danny Rand white, it was in hiring a white dude who apparently has little to no internal critique of white privilege or racism as showrunner for a show with a problematic history.

The problem with Iron Fist isn’t that Danny Rand is white or that Finn Jones does a bad job playing him, the problem is that it was poorly written, poorly directed and there was only like half of a vision of who the character is and why people should be interested in him.
I mean I don’t know, but based on the kind of insular nature of young people’s FB community, I’d be willing to bet that the majority of the viewers were teenagers themselves and at least one of them DID do something and notify an adult
