Her delivery of the memorable line of "You go over there" (or something to that effect) was a main reason she was the second best performance I saw in a comic book movie last year, beaten, of course, by Adam Beach's transcendent turn as Slipknot in Suicide Squad.

Same thing happened with Margot Robbie in The Legend Of Tarzan, where the films own trailer explicitly references that her character, Jane, will have no part in being a damsel in distress…and then she's solely a damsel-in-distress for the entire movie.

Ooooh yeah, Janelle Moae is going places and then some. I'll also second that Hidden Figures is prime feel-good entertainment!

It's decent, doesn't quite work as a whole, but everyone (except for, of all people, Meryl Streep) in the cast turns in strong performances and Chris Pine's big musical number is an absolute riot.

I have Knowles idea who any of these people are.

I'm gonna try to finally see Lion this week and I hope it's good becuase Dev Patel has been in way too many lame movies lately. I still get nightmare over the horrible quality of CHAPPiE, good Lord…

Y'know, I've liked Chris Pine for a good long while now, especially after his funny turn in Into The Woods. He was the best actor amongst a ton of strong performances in Hell Or High Water, but Pine's isn't very showy so I doubt it'll get the awards recognition it deserves. Pity.

I would totally not have minded seeing Captain America: Civil War get some more Best Picture talk, though the 2016 film I reeeeally wish was getting some major Best Picture buzz was O.J.: Made In America. Now THAT was some riveting cinema, hoooo boy.

I just wanna note how cool it is that the three movies that are frontrunenrs for Best Picture this year (Moonlight, La La Land and Manchester By The Sea) are all great movies in my book. Moonlight is easily my favorite movie of 2016, but particularly La La Land and Manchester By The Sea are not far behind at all. Nice

You can tell too by that gratuitous battle scene in the middle of the movie that completely ignores Andrew Garfields character for twenty or so minutes in favor of poorly developed supporting characters.

And on the next episode of Kevin Can Wait, Kevin James will also have his eye on Chicago…a Chicago pizza that is!!!

It's a testament to how good he is that one of the best moments of his entire career comes from, of all Goddamn things….The Country Bears!

You don't sound like sharpest tool in the shed.

Boy, a Netflix TV show all about The Punisher, a white guy who just runs around killing oodles of people really doesn't seem like the thing this world needs right now in this political climate.

I decided to start off the year by mending some bridges, by which I mean I sent an e-mail to Zack Snyder telling him that "You may be a sucky director, but you're a good man and I hope your New Year is awesome! :)"

Do you know what the chances are of Donald Trump being a complete embarrassment as a POTUS?

There's still way too many high-profile films that haven't come to a theater anywhere near me for me to, in good conscience, do a comprehensive "Best Of 2016" list, but I wanna give shout out for Most Underrated to Midnight Special, an extremely lovely parable about a father trying to care for and protect his special

It's so weird to have a TV season where NBC not only doesn't have a dud in the bunch (Timeless being the closest thing to an outright bomb) but also seems to be doing pretty well.

DOCTOR STRANGE SPOILERS!!!!

If I may also leap onto your Midnight Special praise (because, wow, what a movie, still one of my favorites of the year easily), one of my favorite scenes of 2016 has to be the "Dad, are you scared?" moment just before the finale. Michael Shannon plays it so well, the dialogue is both well-written and delivered
