I saw Jupiter Ascending tonight, excelsior!!
The tear of the Goofy Goober scene gets me every damn time.
I'm seeing this tonight, so I'll wait to read your review until I get to write up my own thoughts this evening, but super glad to hear you and Narrator enjoyed it!
Hey, I saw the Spongebob Movie: Sponge Out Of Water today! Excelsior!
And now a recurring feature where NerdInTheBasement recommends high-quality country music. This feature is called….
It really is sad. Like I said above, CGI is capable of beautiful things (Big Hero 6 had some gorgeous backgrounds), but I do miss the majesty of the artwork in The Lion King, and of course, the beauty found in the work of Hayao Miyazaki.
Honestly, I kind of get why they did do that; they wanna make sure the movie looks like something you couldn't watch on TV for free, so they pumped up the CGI versions of the characters which are exclusive to the film.
I'm just really happy a movie that's predominately hand-drawn animation (the live-action/CGI scenes that are the focus of the marketing are apparently only the last 25 minutes or so of the actual film) is doing well in America. Nothing wrong at all with CGI animation, just nice to see variety in style of animation…
Wooooaaahhhh….check out yesterdays box office!
Interesting…Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence are in talks to star in Passengers, a new sci-fi movie from Morten Tyldum.
I can't wait for the prequel depicting President Snow's rise to power, which will be entitled Snow Dogs (Of War)
Is Voldemort more insecure about his baldness or lack of a nose?
Uh, Mrs. Rowling, in all books following Sorceors Stone, Fluffy is nowhere to be seen. Where did he go? What, are we supposed to believe this is some kind of "magical" disappearing multi-headed canine?
Pump the brakes bro.
It's got some great acting in it, the cinematography is beautiful and there's some really haunting moments. I really liked it, but I also freely admit it's not one for the all-time record books.
I did a Lovefest over Mamma Mia! on The Dissolve! Check it out!!

I think it's good to just have the option around. Both formats can get incredible visuals, but if there's one particular format that the filmmaker behind a certain movie feels is the appropriate way to experience it, I'd like to have that option to watch it in that format.
I actually really liked Legend Of The Guardians
Good point of the jokes aimed at adults bit. I don't mind those per se if done right, but in order to work, they have to work on some level for kids watching it. Very great point!
