Keep in mind this season is up against two years of anticipation and did the important job of positioning all of the chess pieces on the board. There were several interactions that had to occur before the story moved forward. Jon and Arya, Jon and Bran, Sans and Jon about Dany, Jon and Sam, Arya and Hound, Arya and…

The time for nuanced character development and subverting expectations is over; the show has essentially gotten to a point where all that is left is to bring the pieces on the board back together and tie up the loose ends.  The show has to end at some point, and we know that point is coming; the idea they can continue…
