I agree. I find myself rooting for him over everybody else in the show and that is a narrative failure, I think. The "good guys" of the show, save Maggie and Glenn, come off as absolute douchebags, while the supposed villain, I find myself feeling very sympathetic towards.

It would be hilarious if Merle survives Woodbury and then disappears again, only to later show up as one of Negan's Saviors, years from now.

Why is everybody harping on the heads in the aquarium? Or even the soldiers for that matter? Like the main characters of the show haven't done similar things. Rick has been like cancer to just about everybody he's ever come across. Name someone who tried to help him who hasn't ended up dead or crippled.
