Mary Decker was an asshole and displayed an astounding level of unsportsmanship. Are we trying to rewrite history? Not buying it. I am old enough to remember this and saw it live. She’s an asshole.

My impression at the time was that Mary Decker came off not as America’s Sweetheart but as America’s Bitch. That’s perhaps because we used to see Olympians as dramatic characters in a miniseries rather than as people.

Robert Dunlop notched up a couple of Northwest 200 and Ulster Grand Prix wins on a Norton (wankel powered, no less). Steve Hislop got a TT win on one too. I wouldn’t say Norton is devoid of racing pedigree. Not by a long shot.
