I don’t know why everyone is up in arms about everyone being up in arms about the choice of the new Doctor. No matter WHO it was, there would have been complaints, just as there were complaints about all previous Doctors. And by the end of the first series most people will be won over. I am upset because I love what

Brilliant opportunity to create the doctor as a mother figure. Jodie was such an amazingly strong mother in Broadchurch, I can see that carrying over into the Doctor. I can see her have a “Get away from her, you bitch” moment with the Daleks.

He’ll be back. (Sorry, too soon?)

Bingo. I also have an issue that’s it being called “whitewashed” when the only good guy, L, is played by a black guy.

TV has reached a new lowe.

My immediate thought was porn. With paws. Pawn. Yawn.

My god I love this image. I love the style and color palette of Capaldi’s gray and slightly washed out Doctor. I am so sad he’s leaving. So much more potential in this actor’s portrayal of this character.

I can already tell from the trailers that I’m supporting the Vulture on this.

Roger No Moore. :(

Networks continuing to end piracy by producing nothing worth pirating. Brilliant.

I feel that Moffat, the master prankster, is telegraphing ahead: “For my huge finale, trust NOTHING you see, because I’m going toy with you until the very end.” I’m intrigued, but my guts are all wibbly wobbly...

Didn’t Chris Chibnall say he’s writing the scripts to see what kind of Doctor comes naturally to him and THEN start looking for the actor who can play THAT Doctor? I hope he does. Everyone speculates on actors, but I hope he doesn’t mess up the characterization like Moffat did with Capaldi for two seasons.

I’m 100% with you on Paterson Joseph, and can see Miranda doing something interesting. I like her acting (Call the Midwife) over her comedy, actually. I also think Ruth Wilson would bring something very interesting to the role. Maybe next time around for her. But yeah, Kris Marshall has me worried.

Sadly I’m the other way around. Although I think his potential was wasted the first two seasons, I could just watch him sneer and read the ingredients on a cereal box and be entranced. I knew Moffat would go older and I thought Jim Nesbitt would get the role, but was soooo happy it went to Capaldi.

Really??? I’d dig Olivia Colman but I’m really doubting Kris Marshall. Maybe Chibnall sees something in him I don’t, but I don’t want bumbling. I want strong. I’d love Olivia Colman to bring a whole protective mother feeling to the Doctor though.

Hey all, I’m being totally sarcastic. I have loved this season entirely and I’m devastated that Capaldi is leaving. Sorry if the sarcasm wasn’t clear.

Spot on. That’s it exactly. Well said.

I’ve actually wondered if the reverse is going to happen. Will John Simm be the next Doctor and steal the Master’s old face.

Yes. This exactly. He can stay for only 3 seasons if he wants, but the first 2 didn’t count. So this is his first real season. He owes us 2 more. :)

Is that why I’m feeling dizzy? Why have they all settled on 3 years now? At one point Capaldi said he’d do 5. Grrr. It’s all a ploy, right? Capaldi is going to regenerate into Capaldi and it was all just marketing. Right....?????
