@Snowbunny: I think the article is a bit misleading. Seems like the gel doesn't kill the virus or infected cells, but just prevents virus from infecting new cells by binding surface markers.

@Algren: Hi! Just wanted to defend a little bit of the "junk science," or at least give my viewpoint coming from the research side of things

@AmberNicole: that video is fabulous! it's so easy to get caught up in frustration and anger against the WBC and other hate groups that turning it into a positive message isn't such an obvious idea...but so simple and effective!

I'm really curious as to how this will pan out. I'm entering the field of cancer immunology, and I'm afraid my past year of training has instilled a lot of doubt as to the efficacy of changing the immune response when it comes to reacting against yourself (as in cancer or autoimmune diseases). It seems that these

oops, these asshats will interpret playing with the earlobe as interest? i've been using that as my "Save Me!" signal to friends when we go out. maybe i should resort to picking my nose, or belching.

@SkaHimself: Thank you for the link. Yes, I do agree that pederasty was practiced by the Spartans. I believe I was confused in that I thought you were referring to encouragement of homosexual relationships as part of active military service, which this page led me to believe otherwise: [en.wikipedia.org]

@SkaHimself: Excuse me if this is all just tongue in cheek, but I don't believe that is true about the Spartans.

@kerry: if anything, i thought it would be worse as localized, chronic inflammation tends to be bad for the tissue.

At the time of writing, I'm actually quite surprised at the self-reflection in some of the most dugg comments in the digg link of this article. Hopefully this will make more commenters think twice before posting a "funny" joke about women.

@Adiphyte: I live in the Bay Area, CA, near a large college campus. So probably just something specific to the area I live and the time of day/week I tend to shop

@Penny: Thanks for the response! I realize my experience is highly anecdotal and hence the asking if there is a noted trend. What struck me about this though, is that I go to a Whole Foods and Safeway which are across the street from each other, which made me wonder if there are other factors are play. Does Whole

Has there been noting of racial skewing of employees of Whole Foods? When I go to Whole Foods and Safeway back to back, I'm always struck at how the former is normally staffed by either hip-looking college aged youth, or older, white employees, while the latter has a much wider range (although skewing towards much

@CassandraSays: I second this! I mostly grew up and currently live in the Bay Area as well. I still remember the first time this really became apparent to me when I had a layover in Houston, where I watched cross sections of American pass through for hours. This was my first time outside of the Bay Area bubble, and

Totally thought this was going to be an article about the MR images of the internal organs of a couple having sex

I credit a childhood of watching Judge Judy for not turning into an insolent teen. I sure hope it's still on air/in syndication by the time I pop out tots of my own!

@chancentrate: Not sure how accurate this is but closest I could find:

For the sake of better science to public communication, I wish the creators would have cited their sources as I could not find information amongst medical journals supporting the fact that menstrual blood derived stem cells are more potent than others.
