Yes, he could face a few different charges for this (assault, contempt of court, etc.) The question is how much does the district attorney wants to press charges against him for this in the context of what was happening at the time. I would bet that a plea bargain will be struck, and assuming he does not have a prior

It may be different in Washington, but I know in California, there’s a number of crimes that can fit under the category of sexual exploitation of a child (or minor, depending on the language of the statute). Those include crimes such as child pornography, solicitation of a minor for sex, lewd conduct with a child,

How roo’d.

In some ways, the Supreme Court is the entire ballgame, and that McConnell and his buddies were successful in stealing that seat for Trump pisses me off to no end. I’m angry at the Republicans in the Senate for that, but also with the Democrats who let them get away with it.

I could practically hear the race to type this comment. Bravo.

Shout out to Bradley Whitford as Eric Gordon in Billy Madison:

Obligatory:

I know she didn’t actually “wish” it on him. Perhaps I could have made that more clear, but I intended that to apply more generally that we, as a people, should not hope for that to happen.

I think that’s the best explanation for Judge Aquilina’s statement. After hearing his victims tell their stories one after another for four days straight, I think most people would be hard pressed to not wish him to suffer on a level that is commensurate with that he committed against these women. I know I had that

Guggenheim beat us to it.

No doubt the current person in the role of Commodus believes himself to be in the role of Maximus.

HUDrat is my new favorite. I am better for having read your comment.

Don’t tell Betsy DeVos.

I think that’s probably why it was ruled an own goal. At the point Alonso headed it, the shot was no longer going to be on target, but then it caromed off Rüdiger back toward the net.

It would have taken everything in me not to cheer when Judge Aquilina picked up his letter to the court, tossed it aside, and asked him if he wanted to change his plea.

I like this comment more than I like sand.

Hanks is excellent in The Post, but I haven’t seen enough of the other nominees to say whether he deserves a nomination over them. I also really liked Bob Odenkirk’s performance (he’s got more range than people give him credit for having), but I knew he’d be a long shot for any nomination.

A plea bargain is a negotiated resolution where the outcome is agreed to by both the prosecution and the defendant. That’s very different from convincing a client that their case is guaranteed win before signing them up as a client.
